Trains Indian Police Service (IPS) officers selected through a nationwide Civil Services Examination.
These officers are designated as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) in their respective states, overseeing various police sub-ranks.
Each state's Director Generals of Police are responsible for recruiting sub-rank officers, such as Constables, Sub-Inspectors, and Deputy Superintendents of Police.
The IPS cadre is governed by the Home Ministry of the Government of India, with appointments and removals authorized by the President of India.

Primary goal: Prepare police leaders with qualities such as courage, integrity, dedication, and service to the people.
Instill values including integrity, respect for human rights, professionalism, and physical and mental fitness.
Serve as a hub for training police trainers nationwide and offer consultancy to improve training in sister institutions.
Conduct research studies on policing topics and collaborate with similar institutions globally to expand resources.
