Chowmahalla Palace
Chowmahalla Palace: The Nizams' Residence
Located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, it served as the Asaf Jahi dynasty's seat of power (1720-1948).
The Nizams of Hyderabad's official residence during their reign.
Presently, the palace has been transformed into a museum, although ownership remains with the family.
Historical Significance:
Built on the site of an earlier palace from the Qutb Shahi and Asaf Jahi dynasties, in proximity to the Charminar.
Construction was initiated by Nizam Ali Khan Asaf Jah II in 1769, resulting in the four palaces that gave it the name "Chau Mahalla."
"Chār" or "chow" means "four," while "mahal" signifies "palace" in Urdu, Hindi, and Persian, thus creating the name Chowmahalla Palace.
